TORRIDGE AUCTIONS was founded in 1987 by Margaret Price. Initially Sales were held in the Bideford Pannier Market on a monthly basis. However, in 1994 the present premises were bought for a permanent Auction Room with ample storage facilities where goods can easily be held until the next suitable Sale. Over the past 14 years the Saleroom has been modified and improved to give a much better layout for Sales. The slight winter chill in the Saleroom is turned to advantage in the summer when the Saleroom seems (to hundreds of prospective bidders) to be the COOLEST place in Bideford!

On 2nd January 2003 TORRIDGE AUCTIONS became a Private Limited Liability Company. This is only a name change and will not affect the service we have built our reputation on.

Sales
We are now able to have Sales whenever we wish and to take in items for Sale at almost all times. We now have a regular programme of Sales:-

There are ten General Household Sales spread throughout the year which have a huge range of items (from the kitchen sink up - and down!) that are mostly from House Clearances or people replacing older furniture with newer (or even Antique). If you're kitting out a house for the first time this is the Sale to come to.

Every nine weeks there is a Sale of Antiques and Collectables. These Sales are mainly the better and more interesting items from House Clearances - every house that we clear has something that qualifies!

House Clearance
The House Clearance is the heart of our operation. We have a team who are experienced in Sorting, Packing and Transporting items to the Saleroom. If you are left to deal with a loved ones estate, we can advise sympathetically on the best way to dispose of all items to the best effect. People often move from a large house to a smaller one and have a number of items (often large pieces of furniture) that will not fit in the new property. Again we can help.

In the interests of cutting all costs to the bone to maintain our level of service we have for some years now printed our own Self-adhesive Lot Numbers and have offered the service to other Auction Houses. We are able to do this at a very competitive price - less than a penny per label! If you are interested please contact us.
